ABG Health tops vaccination campaign

The ABG Department of Health in partnership with World Health Organization (WHO) has topped the provinces in Papua New Guinea in its campaign against Polio and vaccination coverage in Bougainville.

This was according to the Deputy Secretary for ABG Department of Health, Public Health and Clinical Services, Mr Aloysius Pukenei who presented the report of the polio campaign outreach at a partnership meeting today.

The findings showed that, Bougainville out of all the provinces of Papua New Guinea was on top of the list for polio vaccination coverage which indicates that almost every child have been immunized.

The report showed that the total of children population that have been vaccinated per location, were marked well over the target set for Bougainville to reach.

Mr Pukenei said that all the three regions (North, Central and South) have at least nearly ninety nine percent of the children population immunized and there is no reported case in the region.

Mr Pukeknei said that within fourteen days of the polio campaign in the region by his team, they have immunized about ninety nine percent of the targeted children population and this included children from birth to the age of fifteen years living around Bougainville. He acknowledged all partners for their contributions and support for this very significant achievement.
