Australia High Commissioner keen on maintaining relationship

The Australia High Commissioner, His Excellency (H.E) Bruce Davis, arrived today in Bougainville for a two days consultation meeting with the president and key stakeholders involved with the Bougainville referendum.

“For us it is always important to us to stay in touch and as the preparations around the referendum pick up phase, we would like to take the temperature of how it’s all going and as always for us to remain very much engage in this development activities,” Mr Davis said.

Mr Davis will meet with the Bougainville Referendum Commission (BRC) officials on Tuesday and then visit Bougainville’s well-known woman in peace building, Sister Lorrain Garasu with the veterans for peace at the Nazareth Centre.

On Wednesday, Mr Davis will then meet with Minister for Peace Agreement Implementation Hon. Albert Punghau and Acting Secretary for Department for Peace Agreement Implementation, Dennis Kuiai.

He will also meet with the Vice President, Raymond Masono and Secretary for Mining, Shadrach Himata before he departs to Port Moresby.
