Buin to host treasurers conference
Member for Baubauke and ABG Minister for Community Government, the Hon. Jacob Toke MHR has announced that the Annual Treasurers Conference will proceed from 2 to 4 October 2018 in Buin, South Bougainville.
The conference, which brings together key national and sub national financial officials seeks to enhance learning and understanding of financial management reform and best practice at the sub national level.
The Minister for Finance, the Honourable James Marape, MP will attend, together with Chief Secretary to the National Government, Ambassador Issac Lupari and Secretary for Finance, Dr. Ken Ngangan, Minister Toke said.
Senior officials from both the National Government and Provincial Treasuries will also accompany, he said.
“I welcome the hosting of this important conference in Buin, South Bougainville.”
Mr Toke noted that the conference provided an opportunity to showcase Buin to Papua New Guinea and the world.
“The Conference provides an excellent opportunity for the people of Buin to show the hospitality that the people of South Bougainville are famous for. With some 400 delegates attending, the conference is a welcoming economic boost and will ensure that Buin is placed firmly on the map at the national and international level,” he said.
The conference will formally commence on the morning of Wednesday 3rd October 2018 and will be held at the Buin High School.
“I very much look forward to welcoming our important visitors to Buin and for the Autonomous Bougainville Government to make an active contribution to this important conference,” he added.
