NGIP AGMARK LTD is pleased to announce the sponsorship of this year’s inaugural Rugby League 9s competition in partnership with the Bougainville Rugby Football League.

According to the Agmark Corporate Compliance and Bougainville Manager, Ms Salome Catherine Rihatta said that: “It’s only this year that the company is looking to extend that partnership into sports and other community activities which will not only assist in continuing to building up the NGIP Agmark brand in Bougainville, but also ensure that as part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities.”

“It must be seen as being proactive in building up good character and instilling discipline in the youth of Bougainville to be good citizens of the region.”

Agmark Ltd has been a major cocoa buyer in Bougainville for many years and it has played a major role in exporting to overseas markets, directly from farmers in Bougainville.

We hope that by partnering with the Bougainville Rugby Football League, we will be able to lift the standard of rugby in Bougainville and also help build it up again to be competitive in the National arena as it was pre-crisis days, she said.

NGIP Agmark Ltd’s sponsorship covers cash prizes totalling K22, 000 to the winners and runners up for both male and female teams and the Perpetual Cup to the winning male team.

Ms Rihatta said that Agmark is looking forward to having this partnership continue into the future, depending on the success of this inaugural cup. The competition will be held in each region starting with the Northern Region this year.

Bougainville Rugby Football League Tournament Director Mr Baleri Holi said that it was a rare opportunity for such sponsorship and acknowledged Agmark Ltd management for the support.

The launching of the Cup is tentatively scheduled for Monday, 11th December 2017 at the Bel Isi Park with the competition running from the 14th of December culminating in the Grand Finals on Sunday the 17th December 2017 at the Hutjena Rugby League Oval.
