Development partners meet with ABG
Chief Secretary Joseph Nobetau today chaired a meeting of key Development Partners in Buka.
In attendance were representatives from United Nations agencies, the European Union, New Zealand and Australia. President John Momis was also in attendance to formally open the meeting.
In his opening remarks the President emphasised the importance of Development Partner cooperation, noting the significant support provided by donors over many years.
Chief Secretary Nobetau then provided an overview of the ABG Strategic Development Plan, noting that the plan captures the key development priorities for Bougainville over the coming five years. The Chief Secretary noted that in implementing the plan, the support of development partners will be critical, and that in doing so, there would be a need for coordination, harmonisation and regionalisation of support.
The meeting concluded with Development Partners providing a brief overview of current areas of work, with a commitment to meet again in the coming months to talk further about how future initiatives can be more effectively aligned to support the objectives of the Plan.
