Dialogue open to discuss key issues

Minister for State Assisting the Prime Minister on Bougainville matters and Sports, Hon. Willson Samb is in Bougainville to visit key offices and engage in an open dialogue on important issues.

Hon. Willson Samb arrived in Buka this afternoon and was given a rousing welcome to the traditional “Tsutsu” which the Bougainvillean women embraced his feet with water followed by a short welcome briefing at the airport.

Minister for Education Hon. Thomas Pataku on behalf of the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) welcomed Hon. Samb and his delegates into the region and informed the minister of the challenges he may encounter when touring the region, one of them being education.

“You are our Minister,” Hon Pataku gladly received the Bougainville Affairs Minister and exclaimed that as the minister responsible for Bougainville’s issues, “we will support you to make sure that there is a way forward after referendum.”

Hon. Willson Samb would like to see both governments work together. “I want to contribute in finding a better way for Bougainville,” he said and acknowledged the welcome remarks.

Hon. Samb also acknowledges the members of the Joint Technical Team (JTT) whom, prior to the meeting of the Joint Supervisory Body (JSB), contributed towards the forming of the question to be asked on the referendum ballot.
