OBEC launches strategic plan

The Office of the Bougainville Electoral Commissioner (OBEC) launched its Strategic Plan 2018-2022 today at the public service administration conference room.

Vice President Hon. Mr Raymond Masono said it was important that we have these plans because it helps us to priorities the activities that we want to undertake and the resources that are available.

“Having a plan also reduces the risks of the outcome,” he said.

Deputy Chief Secretary for Policy and Planning, Mr. Thomas Raivet also commended the OBEC staff for achieving this milestone.

“Strategies are like a search light that lightens up the way to our journey into the future, the referendum and beyond.”

Bougainville Electoral Commissioner, George Manu said that the OBEC Strategic Plan 2018-2022, was a milestone achievement not only for the OBEC office but the  ABG as a whole.

“I am delighted to present to the public and our stakeholders OBEC’s Strategic Plan for the next five years. This plan sets out our vision of becoming an independent and competent electoral body to strengthen democracy in Bougainville through the adoption of transparent and inclusive electoral processes.”

Mr Manu congratulated all the staff of OBEC for their hard work in coming up with this document and expressed his sincere appreciation to IFES for helping in the process.
