President office gets IT equipments

The offices of the President and Chief Secretary have been improved with newly purchased IT equipments on Friday, thanks to the Bougainville based, UNDP office.

It has been a while since the offices have been operating without the IT necessities and this will put to rest the struggle many have with writing on papers.

Deputy Chief Secretary Peter Nomoreke acknowledged UN for its continuous support and partnership with the ABG.

First Secretary to the Office of the President Lawrence Disin received the equipments on behalf of the President Hon. Chief John Momis and Chief Secretary Joseph Nobetau.

“UN is mandated to serve Bougainville for many years to come especially before going through the referendum next year.”

Mr Disin said that what actually happened was, UN visited all the offices and indentified what the needs were. UN did the same for the Office of the President and Chief Secretary and listed those indentified items to be IT equipments.

“On behalf of the office of the President and Chief Secretary, I would like to thank UN for donating these equipments which will go a long way with assisting the functions of these offices,” he said.

UNDP, Project Manager for the Peace Building Fund (PBF), Stephen Liston said that: “…this is something that was initiated before I came and I am very delighted to see it through.”

This is Liston’s first time to Bougainville. It was his first time to visit the President’s office and Chief Secretary’s office too.

“The support to these two offices is critical to the operations and the functionality. It’s critical to the people of Bougainville. It’s critical for the years ahead.”
