Bougainville Community Grants - Call for Expressions of Interest

The Bougainville Community Grants Program is a partnership between the Autonomous Bougainville Government and the Government of Australia. Its objective is to promote peace, security and unity.

Bougainville Community Grants will support citizens, groups, landowners, community-based organisations and businesses to work with government to respond to development challenges.

Call for Expressions of Interest

Bougainville Community Grants is calling for Expressions of Interest for funding of projects which address local development challenges.

How to apply

A Public Information Pack containing application information is available from your District Administration or the Bougainville Community Grants office.

Applications may be submitted to the above offices free of charge.

Expressions of Interest must be received by 22 December 2016.

What kinds of activities will the grants support?

  • Communities Working Together
  • Projects proposed by Community Governments (Councils of Elders)
  • Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
  • Community WASH or school/health facility WASH
  • Economic/Livelihood Activities or Climate Change Activities
  • Community-based tourism, livestock or gardening, community infrastructure, food security, disaster risk planning
  • Gender and Social Inclusion
  • Support to disadvantaged groups such as widows, people with disabilities or HIV, the elderly, the non-literate

Funding Range

Grants of K5,000 – K100,000 are available. A 10 per cent contribution is required from grant beneficiaries towards the cost of equipment or materials.

Who is eligible?

Bougainville Community Grants are designed for grass-roots groups, communities or civil society organisations. They may be:

  • Volunteer groups
  • Youth groups
  • Sports group or sports clubs
  • Women’s groups
  • Ward Planning Committee or Village Assembly
  • Community Government or (COE)
  • CBO (Community based organisations)
  • Non-incorporated customary social groups
  • PNG incorporated organisations (profit or not-for-profit)
  • Non-commercial statutory authorities as research organisations or universities
  • School Boards of Management
  • Community health networks or village health volunteer groups
  • District Peace and Security Committees
  • Church groups

Note: Only groups located in AROB are eligible for award of a grant.
