Senior management staff sign their three year contracts

A total of fifty-six senior Bougainville public servants signed their Senior Management Office Holder Contracts today in Buka.

ABG Minister for Public Service, Hon. Melvin Wilolopa when congratulating the senior officers, emphasized on key areas including performance, punctuality, accountability and integrity of the Bougainville Public Service.

He said that while the contracts contain various allowances such as vehicle, accommodation, utilities, telephone and entertainment allowances; it is all tied to demonstrated commitment and performance from the officers.

He said that the public service is the key machinery of the government and as Minister responsible; he wants to see improved performance that will contribute to the overall effective functioning of the public service.

Speaking on punctuality, the Minister said that his department is currently working on a policy for time and attendance for all public servants and will be implemented soon with the introduction of time clocks for all departments.

It is anticipated that this exercise will better place all department heads to ensure that all officers are punctual and available to serve the people.

The signing of the contracts also marks an achievement of the Public Service Minister’s 100-day plan and is aligned to the President’s six-point strategy of Administrative Control.
