Condolence Statement for the Late Dr Henry Okole

CONDOLENCE STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT ON THE PASSING OF THE LATE DR HENRY OKOLE

It is with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of the Late Dr Henry Tadap Okole Ph.D. on Friday 05 March 2021 in Port Moresby.

On behalf of the Autonomous Bougainville Government, I would like to pass on my government and our people’s sincerest condolences to the family of the Late Dr Henry Okole.

The Late Dr Henry Okole was the Director for the National Coordination Office for Bougainville Affairs (NCOBA) at the time of his passing. He was appointed to the position in December last year by the National Executive Council.

Late Dr Okole was a man of great experience and knowledge of Bougainville issues and he contributed profoundly to the overall implementation of the Bougainville Peace Agreement. He was previously the Advisor to the National Coordination Office for Bougainville Affairs under the ABT PNG Management Services before he was elevated to the Director’s position.

Under his leadership, the Bougainville and PNG governments were able to successfully host the first meeting of the Joint Supervisory Body in Arawa in February this year. This JSB resolved a number of key issues which has contributed positively to the progress of Bougainville in our post-referendum journey.

Late Dr Okole is survived by his wife Velin, three daughters Dianne, Ruby and Abigail and four grandchildren.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Hon. ISHMAEL TOROAMA, MHR
President
