Speaker announces date for 2021 Budget session
Speaker of the Bougainville House of Representatives, Simon Pentanu today announced the date for the next sitting of the House.
15 December 2020 has been fixed as the date that the Bougainville House of Representatives will convene for the 2021 Budget meeting. The date for the next meeting of the House was fixed through a resolution passed by the House on the 18th of November 2020.
“The 2021 ABG Budget is the first to be tabled by the Toroama/Nisira government since assuming office this year. The Finance Minister, Hon. Mathias Salas will have the opportunity to table the budget in the House of Representatives this month,” he said.
“The other reason for convening the meeting of the House is for the Members of the House to consider whether or not to extend the Bougainville Emergency. The declaration of the Bougainville Emergency lapses on 17th December 2020.”
The Parliamentary Emergency Committee will table its Report on the management and operation of the Bougainville Emergency with recommendations on the fate of the Bougainville Emergency.
