President Toroama ends South trip for independence mission program

President Ishmael Toroama’s tour of South Bougainville to launch the Independence Ready Mission Implementation for three constituencies in the region this week ended on a high note today.

President Toroama officially launched the Independence initiative for the Kopi Constituency in Siwai District after he launched the programs for the Lato and Ramu Constituencies earlier in the week.

Vice President Patrick Nisira, Attorney General and Minister for Bougainville Independence Mission Implementation Ezekiel Massat accompanied the President as they visited the three South Bougainville constituencies and their respective elected leaders.

Since the inception of the Independence Ready Mission Implementation Initiative President Toroama has traveled throughout Bougainville to launch the program for every constituency that has done its launching.

It is the intention of President Toroama to visit every constituency as they launch their constituency’s independence ready mission.

“My intention is to rally and inspire our people to be independence ready and to prepare Bougainville economically, socially, politically and spiritually ready for independence,” President Toroama.

“The outcome of the referendum has solidified my resolve to pursue our independence agenda with the National Government,” President Toroama added.

“If I can be inspired to continue our dreams for independence then what stops you from doing the same. You voted for independence during the referendum now it’s time to show your intention to be independent,” he said.

The President and his delegation have encouraged the three southern constituencies as well as the rest of Bougainville to support their Community Government and the Village Assemblies as these lower tiers of government will directly engage with the people.

This includes fostering standards of good governance and fostering economic growth while inculcating ethical values in the constituencies and society at large.

The ABG’s independence readiness program is not bound by law but it is an initiative by President Toroama to prepare Bougainville’s government and people for the next stage in its political future.

So far eleven constituencies have launched their programs out of the thirty-three constituencies on Bougainville; more are expected to follow suit in the coming weeks.
