Toroama embarks on Church awareness

ABG President Ishmael Toroama has taken steps to further unite Bougainvilleans through the Christian churches on Bougainville as part of the Post Referendum Preparations.

Since taking up office in September President Toroama has been visiting the various denominations on Bougainville to encourage the people to remain steadfast in the region’s journey to political independence.

“My message to the people has been to continue to keep their faith in God and to be responsible Christians and citizens in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville,” President Toroama said.

“There should no longer be any lines that separate Bougainvilleans through their beliefs; the journey Bougainville is embarking on needs everyone to commit themselves to supporting the ABG and continue to live responsible lives,” President Toroama added.

These meetings have also allowed President Toroama to directly engage with Bougainvilleans at the community level.

It also presents communities an opportunity to listen and understand the current political climate that exists on Bougainville.
